19th July 2024:
The best toast in Scotland that accompanied an excellent breakfast. The delightful owner was keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She and her husband have created a truly great hotel, very comfortable, large, clean rooms with good beds and more than adequate bathrooms. Fabulous views from the rooms.
Tips:The local pub/restaurant is a couple of miles away but a very easy walk through wonderful landscape. Defiately worth it when you get there! The hotel does not provide lunch or dinner but some fruit and and a pork pie in the room was easily sufficient. Much more good food could be bought at the local store, near the pub. We had a great time at this hotel.

Margariet and Neil were great, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Great location for touring around Isle of Mull
Tips:Best to book restaurants as not many eateries about. We did book packed lunches from Margariet and Neil on some occasions. Highly recommend Calgary beach, walk to Langamull Beach and Glengorm with cafe. The road from Salen to Penny nan Gael alongside Ben More B8035 is so very beautiful and we saw white tailed eagles nesting.

The beds are rather small. A wider one would be more comfortable. The windows do not have screens to keep insects out. We were ahead of the ‘midget season’ but I can imagine that within a few weeks windows cannot be opened unless you’re a midget lover.
Tips:The Bellachroy is a nice pub with restaurant. But booking is advisable.

Stayed 5 nights: Excellent B&B, all done with a smile. Hosts are pleasant and facilitating. Good breakfast. Big plus - no TV.
Tips:Excellent art gallery at Calgary Bay (plus a beautiful clean beach). Good walking in area; dark skies. Note: parking in local area very restricted. Remember binoculars for birdwatching and wildlife. Roads not suited to camper vans (all tight single track with limited passing places). Only bad experience was Am Birlinn restaurant- went expecting good food; soup was excellent but main was worst culinary experience I’ve ever had.

Excellent stay in a remote spot, yet only five minutes' drive from the village of Dervaig (pub, shop etc). The owners were friendly and helpful, and served delicious breakfasts using local products - apart from the black pudding which "...came form overseas" - i.e. the Isle of Lewis! The smoked trout with scrambled egg was very good.
Tips:I highly recommend booking local restaurants in advance for at least the first night, and possibly the second, as they are few and far between and difficult to get a table if you turn up on spec. There's a wider choice in Tobermory but even these seem to get booked up early. And it is a 45 minute drive each way on a very narrow winding road.

Tips:The Bellachroy hotel is local serving very good food and the Am Birlin restaurant is not much further away, about 10min drive serving fantastic locally sourced produce, lovely menu. A beautiful island with spectacular scenery and lovely friendly people, wildlife galore and good fishing, a paradise I didn't want to leave

A lovely bed and breakfast with wonderful hosts! The breakfasts each day were delicious, you could choose what to have (I'd recommend trying the smoked trout, and the Isle of Mull cheese - and of course the full Scottish breakfast!). The breakfast area was full of light, and the common room had many books and board games available for a quiet evening or a rainy day. Would stay again!
Tips:The Isle of Iona is lovely, with many gorgeous (but cold!) beaches. Am Bord was a really nice restaurant only a 5 minute drive from Druimnacroish - would recommend for a special occasion!

The most friendly hosts you'll ever meet, can't do enough to make your stay the best. Great breakfast, the best toast ever served in a lovely sun room. How great to have a residents lounge, with an honesty bar, a great library of books to read, borrow or swap and lastly the quiet of the location.
Tips:Plenty to do on Mull, a boat trip to Staffa, wildlife tours, visiting lovely beaches and a must do trip to the beautiful island of Iona. Seafood heaven but plenty for non seafood eaters as well, most of which is local. Eat at Am Berlinn, The Bellachroy (both Dervaig). Cafe Fish or Fish on the Pier in Tobermoray and a must eat location, lunch at the Cheese Factory.

A hugely friendly welcome and so helpful. We felt very much at home. Breakfast was excellent especially the home made bread and local sausages.
Tips:We loved the trip with Turus Mara to Staffa. Ulva is worh a trip on its own, given the mix between farmed and forested areas and the wilder western end. The crater loch is a very good local walk with great views, and quite short. The fish and chips at the Fisherman's Pier van in Tobermory are among the best we've ever had.

We had a lovely stay. Maigret and Neil's hospitality was perfect. Delicious breakfasts and great recommendations for walks on the island. We loved sitting in the conservatory watching the evening sunlight, listening to the birds and playing games. A short drive from a lovely pub and amazing restaurant (Am Birlin was the best meal we had on our trip). Mull exceeded our expectations and Druimnacroish was a lovely homely base to explore from. Thank you
Tips:Am Birlin and Bellachroy are local to the accommodation and we had some lovely meals and the staff are great. We had an incredible trip to Staffa to see Fingal's cave and Lunga to see puffins with Turus Mara. Lots to do and explore. We had an electric car for our trip so advice would be to charge up fully in Oban if possible before coming to Mull as many of charge points didn't work with the app.

Very comfortable stay. Delicious breakfast. Wonderful, peaceful views from room 6, the large room. The owners make you feel right at home. There is an honesty bar as well as snacks, and soft drinks and comfortable common areas to sit and plan your day. Many books, maps and tour information are available. It is a remote spot which will help hone your skills at single track driving, but well worth it!! Loved our stay!
Tips:The Bellachroy is 5 mins down the road for n Dervaig. Am Birlinne very good. Calgary beach a must. Hike out the path along the north side to the headland. Beautiful. Duart Castle is worth a visit, but a real treat is the road to Loch Buie and the cafe at the end of the road. Soup and Victoria sponge cake was delicious. Hike to the lovely stone circle, and the walk along the loch. And a trip to Ulva was wonderful. Well worth the drive and 2 minute launch. The cafe as terrific so plan to have lunch if you can, or coffee and cake.

We went back to Druimnacrois because we love the set up and location of the house. It is very spacious, and we loved sitting in one of the two very cosy guest lounges (one of them also has ap table to write or play games on)to spend some time away from our room. There are many many books on Mull and wildlife on the shelves to find out where to go next and Margriet and Neil are very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and very happy to give information. We also loved the breakfasts, made fresh to order and to taste some of Margriet's homemade goodies, like bread and jam. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the view out to the back garden and countryside. All in all it was so very relaxing and easy going and we hope to be back as it is the perfect stay for us.One thing though: It tends to be very dark at night, so I brought a little plug in blue night light for the room as I cannot sleep in total darkness.(the lights in the hall are with sensor come on automatically).

First class .. spotlessly clean .. great size room .. comfy bed and great pillows .. nothing to much for the owners .. breakfast was outstanding … you must stay for at least 2 nights to have the full breakfast and the smoked trout… the well stocked honesty bar and lounge were super…. Loads of info as well on things to see and do… perfect base for mull… we now won’t stay anywhere else while visiting the island

Away from the news, no tv, with little internet and poor phone signal in the area, well with my network yours may be fine. Nice quiet home, with board games, and books to enjoy if the weather isn't good. Maps and guides to share and return after use. Great Breakfast and a nice pub within 2 miles and the food were brilliant. Nice and clean good size room and Bathroom. Take a tablet and download a film or two if the weather isn't right on your stay.
Tips:You come here to get away from the rat race we live in and it is wonderful to take a break and enjoy the countryside, just getting the right weather can be a problem. We were lucky with a little rain late evening and low clouds first thing but in time the blue sky turned up and hill walking and views were there to enjoy. Dervaig Village store & Pub was good to visit, take the road to Tobermory and look back into the valley of Dervaig Village below. If you have the time to drive the senic road to Fionnphort, you will be amazed.

Quite the best B and B we have ever stayed in. Good room with excellent en-suite. 2 well- equipped lounges with loads of books and games to play. The proprietors were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The drinks cabinet was well-stocked and had reasonable prices. Picnic lunches were available at reasonable cost. Despite the rather dull weather we had a most enjoyable stay.
Tips:There's not a lot of restaurants in the vicinity. The local pub, the Bellachroy, offers meals of average quality. The only other restaurant in Dervaig is the private house, Ar Bord, open Wednesdays to Saturdays. The meals there are of an extremely high standard at around £39 per person but you will have to book in advance. The beach at Calgary, c 4 miles from Dervaig is lovely. Highly recommended is the boat trip to Staffa and the Treshnish Islands. It is £70 but well worth it.

Beautiful quiet location in the green, lush Mull countryside. Great breakfast quality and choice. Excellent value packed lunch. The lounge and well-stocked bar and fridge were the icing on the cake. I have not found a facility like this anywhere else. It is great for relaxing at the end of the day, finding plenty of books to read and also local information on things to do on Mull and beyond
Tips:The Bellachroy Inn at Dervaig was very good. Just phone them after 3pm on the day to book a table. Good host and choice of menu was good value. Spice of Mull in Tobermory is a good Indian restaurant or takeaway. Macgochans bar in Tobermory, (opens 3pm) is good for a drink with music and TV. The Mishnish was too busy and not well-staffed for clearing tables.

Very relaxed, friendly arrival welcome. Shown around thoroughly to ground floor communal facilities, and bedroom. Helpful and thoughtful daily chats at breakfast. No pressure to eat quickly to order cooked items before arrival at table. Up to date printed weather forecasts set out on a table daily. Helpful because weather is very changeable.
Tips:We really enjoyed Am Birlinn ,and most especially Ar Bord restaurants at Dervag, very close by.Advance booking needed. Trip to Staffa was wonderful-but check boat and wind force-if staying on the boat is your choice -rather than disembarkation at the island and Fingal's cave-challenging if mobility issues. Iona was a dream next day-calm,sunny, most interesting. Coastal single track routes were a challenge, but got the hang of them -lots of passing places at convenient places. There are some A roads double track between Tobermory and Craignure. All towns have cafes, restaurants and very hospitable staff.. Arts Centre arranged a Chamber Orchestra recital which fortunately co-incided with our visit.

This is a wonderful place to stay, the hosts could not be more helpful or hospitable. My room was large and airy and spotless. The en-suite toilet and shower room was similarly large and well appointed. There's a couple of comfortable lounges for guests with book, board games etc. Breakfast is in a large conservatory with great views. The food was excellent and plentiful. All first class.
Tips:Mull is absolutely beautiful the scenery is quite literally breathtaking. I was a little unlucky in that I call to spot the wildlife (Otters, White failed Sea Eagles) that I had wanted to see. However that's fine. Finding places to eat or even get a Coffee were unexpectedly tricky on Mull and many places close at 3pm so being a limped organised is key.

We enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed.
Tips:Am Birlinn is the place to dine. There are too many interesting places to see to name. The whole Island is interesting. But remember wildlife such as otters and eagles are wild and you will not necessarily see them! There are a just a few food shops, so if you are self catering bring as much with you as you can. The same can be said for petrol/diesel. Fill up while you can. Take GREAT care on the very narrow twisty roads and be considerate and pull in straight away in a passing place if you see someone coming.

Tips:We can recommend the Bellachroy (Dervaig) and the Craignure Inn - we also visited the fish and chip van at the Fisherman's Pier in Tobermory more than once! We were very well looked after and have already given a 5 star review on tripadvisor. The honesty bar is a very nice feature and is so reasonably priced that I think you could add a little margin and still be considered reasonable by visitors.
Tips:Trying to get an evening meal was tricky. Try and book a table for each night, before your visit if possible. For lunch or afternoon tea, The Hen House is lovely.

Tips:If you ahve taken the trouble to find Druimnavcroish you will know what you c\me for. Bt the gallery and sculpture park at Calgaray Bay are worth a vosit and An Barillon is a fine restaurant.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The room itself is pretty basic, and a double bed really is too small for two for multiple nights. However, the bathroom was recently updated, very spacious and good shower. Plenty of teas and coffees provided in the room. The best thing about this place was the conservatory where you had breakfast and could bring back your lunch/dinner. The space was amazing! We brought back our dinner here each night and played the board games provided. There is also a mini bar operating on an honesty system in the shared lounge space. They cater for dietary requirements if you let them know in advance and breakfast was always really good.
Tips:The Bellachroy just down the road (need to drive) is a great spot to grab dinner. They have an indoor and outdoor eating space but we opted for takeaway to eat in the conservatory of the accommodation. Food was really good each night. Although Dervaig is not far in miles from Tobermory, being a single track road makes the journey considerably longer. Be considerate of other drivers and make note of your nearest passing place should you encounter an oncoming car, and if the car behind you is clearly going faster than you, use a passing place to pull in and let them overtake.

If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful getaway on Mull, this is the place. Tobermory is about 20 minutes away but there are some amazing restaurants and everything else you need for a few days nearby, Margerite is a wonderful host and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed.
Tips:I've been all over the world and had some amazing meals at some of the most famous restaurants anywhere. Imagine the surprise of finding two, yes TWO, restaurants that deserve recognition as world-class venues literally minutes from Dervaig. If you go, don't miss Ar Bord and Am Birlinn. You will not be disappointed.

Can't rate Druimnacroish highly enough. An absolutely lovely place in the north of Mull in a birdwatcher's paradise. Seeing a White-Tailed Eagle from a bedroom window, albeit distantly, was icing on the cake and what a cake! Nothing was too much trouble for Margriet from supplying cutlery and crockery (even lobster crackers & pick!) for take-away dinners to arranging early breakfast and packed lunches only to have to change after a sailing was cancelled at short notice - nothing fazed her!
Tips:No need to travel further than Ballachroy Hotel in Dervaig (a couple of miles up the road) for superb cuisine that seemed to be served in an instant. If you want wall to wall telly and 24hr fast living then this is NOT the place to be. For quiet, calm and beautiful surroundings you cannot beat Druimnacroish - repeat vivitors are testament to that.

Beautiful place in the center of North part of Isle of Mull. Neil and Margriet are amazing hosts, with big knowledge about island itself and extremely helpful. Breakfast made of local produce makes it one of the most tasty places we've visited. Of you have a chance just book it with them, you will have no regrets.
Tips:Tobermory- a city not far away is an attraction on its own, with lots of restaurants, pubs. Looking beautiful in the evening. This is one of the loveliest places I have stayed at, delightful in every way. From the personal email after we booked, the location surrounded by trees and completely free of light pollution or traffic noise, to the honesty bar, stunning house plants, the pretty and spacious room, fantastic views of the hills, great COVID protocols, and breakfast with home made bread and our gluten/lactose needs catered for by the lovely hostess Magriet.
Tips:There is no TV (a bonus!) and the Wifi is intermittent. There is no evening meal at Druimnacroish but they are happy for you to bring your take-away back. It was surprisingly difficult to book a table at the best restaurants in Tobermory but we had decent meals at Macgochans and at the Isle of Mull hotel near Craignure, and delicious take-aways from the Bellachroy pub in Dervaig. The driving times given by Google Maps etc can be optimistic, due to the single track roads with passing places over most of Mull e.g. it is a good two hours to Fionnphort from Druimnacroish. Just driving around slowly or sitting on the shoreline taking in the scenery is a great tonic and we took a wonderful boat trip to Fingal's Cave on Staffa and Iona with Staffa Tours. We did some hikes and some of the footpaths shown on the Ordnance Survey maps were difficult to find, and we often had no cell phone coverage.

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, nice to have a lounge area to sit and relax in on rainy days or evenings. The honesty bar is appreciated for us drivers, a whisky on return from a meal is most welcome.
Tips:Galleon Grill in Tobermory serves excellent food. Ballachroy, the nearest hotel provides good food and changes the menu daily. Am Berlin 10 mins away is well worth a visit. Cafe Fish, Tobermory is excellent but a bit more expensive. BOOKING A MUST FOR ANYWHERE, THE EARLIER THE BETTER Visit Staffa, Iona and Ulva, which is great for lunch. Calgary Bay on a good day has a great beach. You must lunch at Glen Gorm and The Mull Cheese Factory. Both have great food offer superb value and all easy to reach.

We stayed at Druimnacroish while we toured the north of Mull. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful and very convenient place. The rooms are spacious and clean with a modern bathroom. The guest lounge is comfortable and perfect for relaxing, with reading material, board games and tea-making facilities. Neil and Margriet are wonderful and attentive hosts, and they make a delicious breakfast - their homemade bread is to die for. We very much enjoyed our stay there and will definitely come back!

Absolutely superb! Spectacular scenery, very comfortable beds, amazing breakfasts (they make their own very delicious bread!), clean rooms, very good communication with the host and mostly important, they accept dogs (not in all rooms though)! Not a great deal with network, but they have very good WiFi, laptop to use and can book things for you (if you don't have any signal on your phone). Lots of books, guides, maps, leaflets and recommendations in the lounge so you'll definitely find something to do and eat around Mull. We will definitely come back there in a future an in a meantime, highly recommend it.
Tips:What we can recommend is to obviously do the Staffa Tour (if it's not a nice weather, prepare to wear some warm WATERPROOF clothes). Also, to do the tour around Tobermory Whiskey Distillery (especially good for rainy days). Besides, we went for nice walks around: Glengorm (be prepared that cafe there is quite expensive but good), Dervaig, Langamull, Salen and Iona. We had a dinner at the Bellachroy Hotel (the oldest Inn on Mull) in Dervaig and it was very good. We also had a dinner in Tobermory in the Mish Dish which was quite alright and in the Spice of Mull which well, the food was ok but well overpriced. Also there are no placed to eat after 9pm and mostly they're all booked up, so make sure you'll have your reservations done for a dinner. There's also Co-op in Tobermory open until 10pm.

There are so many things which made Drumnacroish special. The silence. The large bedrooms and bathrooms and showers. The malt whiskys in the honesty bar. The foodie breakfast. But especially an intangible relaxed cheerfulness that has its origin in you two as people. Location just outside Dervaig was excellent giving access to Tobermory and the north and west of the island. The breakfast was really good - best place out of all our stops on this holiday. Safe Parking. Magriet was so helpful and friendly. The duvet wasn't quite warm enough for the weather and the room was cold so we had to have the fire on.
Tips:We ate at The Bellachroy, pub in Dervaig, typical and OK. SEcond night at Café Fish in Tobermory - fantastic seafood, must book. Don't miss the Isle of Ulva off the west coast of Mull - really beautiful walks and the Ulva Boathouse is amazing with local fish, home made cakes and soup. Must visit Calgary beach. Neil and Margriet were excellent hosts - welcoming, always willing to help with information and making reservations for activities. The room was very comfortable and cozy, with tea/coffee-making facilities, and the shower was lovely and hot. Breakfasts in the lovely glass room were delicious, with a wide choice. I left early two of my mornings, and Margriet kindly left me a sandwich I could take with me - this extra step was much appreciated.
Tips:I recommend a day trip to Iona and a boat ride to the remarkable island of Staffa. The small Mull Museum in Tobermory was worth a visit, and I heard that the walk out to the lighthouse was good too, though I didn’t have time. Driving around the island is wonderful, with great views and scenery, just take it slow because the roads are small, and mostly single-track with passing places. Dinner at nearby Am Birlinn Restaurant was outstanding, with delicious, fresh, local ingredients in a stunning building. Advanced booking required.

Re Facilities I would have liked a bath rather than a shower. Also I think soap should be provided, it s difficult to wash all parts of ones anatomy with liquid from a bottle! Re Breakfast (a particular fad of mine) I do not think a hotel of your standard should be providing butter in foil packets, it gets on your fingers and some gets wasted. You can, I believe, get butter in little tubs (like milk) but there are more stylish ways of presenting it. On the positive side I like your lounge and its facilities very much and I learnt a lot of geography from your magnificent duvets!

The breakfasts were to die for...best sausages in Scotland and the homemade bread...I dare you to pass it up.
Tips:Make reservations for dinner or you may find you lack a place to eat. Am Birlinn was our choice for two nights and when fresh swordfish is on the menu, it shouldn't be missed. Do take an excursion to Lunga during puffin season and don't miss just getting out and walking around in various places on Mull. Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful to see. The single track roads are very narrow and there's always a sheep and/or lamb to test your cars brakes.

Lovely Guest House with a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are simple but clean. There is a well stocked room with all the information you need to tour the island with the owners able to provide any other information you need. The icing on the cake a nice comfortable lounge where you can relax after a hard days touring and have a drink from the honesty bar should you want a tipple.
Tips:Am Birlinn, The Bellachroy both good for an evening meal and fairly close by. Glengorm or An Tobar great for a lunch.

This is just a perfect place to stay on mull. Such friendly and welcoming hosts full of help and advice for all things. The breakfasts are just delicious and get you off to the right start and served in the conservatory with the lovely view . The bedrooms are bright and fresh and its nice to have the living spaces downstairs in the evening for good social time without a TV . Another brilliant stay for myself and the children and our friends too. We love to visit each year . Thankyou again
Tips:Recommend the bellachroy inn and Mediterranea restaurant for places to eat . Isle of ulva is a lovely place for walking and the boathouse is great for food . Also had a nice time at the local cheese farm and Duart castle and Glengorm castle are always lovely to visit . Also enjoyed langamull beach ( I think that's right ) halfway between dervaig and Calgary . Nice walk and barely anyone on the beach when we got there .

13th June 2017:
The peace and quiet there was wonderful and the hospitality second to none. It was lovely to have several spacious areas in which to unwind in the evening, the complementary teas/coffees etc. an added bonus. All in all, a real home from home. The breakfasts were wonderful and set you up for the day. Margriet was an excellent source of information and nothing was too much trouble for her. Although Druimnacroish is in a fairly remote location the benefits far outweigh the narrower choice of venue for an evening meal, if you don't wish to drive too far.
Tips:Bellacroy Hotel in Dervaig is excellent but advise to make a booking as it gets very busy. Salen Hotel is only 'OK' lacking in atmosphere and the food not very inspiring compared with what is available elsewhere.. MacGochans in Tobermory is also good, but a bit further to drive if you prefer not to use the twisty road across the north of the island into Tobermory. Beautiful beach at Calgary with a lovely café nearby. Also the drive to the Ulva ferry, which has some nice picnic spots along the way.

Room key is optional upon request! In my many travels I have never come across this scenario and my concerns were proved when someone opened and closed the room door after I had gone to bed on the Tuesday night. A method of securing the room door from the inside would have been sufficient. Apart from that no complaints.
Tips:The best way to appreciate Mull is to bring a good pair of walking shoes and go out and explore.

W e received a very warm welcome from Margriet.Room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped.Tea and coffee were also available in the lounge also along with a well stocked bar, just writing your name in an honesty book which was then charged to our room, such a lovely idea. The lounge was very comfortable with good selection of books, maps and games.Breakfast was delicious, home made bread and a hearty cooked breakfast, plenty of choice too.Wish we had been staying longer.
Tips:We stayed in a total of 8 different locations during our holiday and this one was the best . Quirky clean and comfortable. We would recommend the Am Bolin restaurant but booking or an early mealtime would be advised. We saw sea Eagles near the Loch just about a mile away near the hide. Our second stay at Druimnacroish, and if we're back on Mull, we're sure to go back. Love the views from the rooms, enjoy chatting with the friendly owners and they offer one of the best B&B breakfasts we've come across in our European travels.
Tips:Enjoy the nature. We've watched deer from the window and seen eagles fly over the B&B. It's tricky to get around this part of Dervaig without a car (or bike), but that can be said for much of Mull. There is actually a community bus that services Dervaig, but it isn't really intended to serve tourists. Am Birlinn is the best restaurant in the area - and more spacious than many restaurants on Mull. Sometimes it's very quiet, other times it's booked out days ahead. So be sure to make a reservation rather than rushing in 30 minutes before closing time. If doing boat trips, Turus Mara are smaller and maybe a little more personable than Staffa Tours (we've tried both now). For whales, use the Sea Life Surveys boat from Tobermory, whose crew excels in knowledge and wildlife spotting.

Tips:Try Am Birlinn a brilliant restaurant with local meal 10min from Druimnacroish. Also in Dervaig Bellachroy is a nice pub. Discover Mull's landscape driving along its beautiful roads and travel to Staffa and Lunga to enjoy the wildlive. To Mull, better if you are Vodafone.

Tips:The local restaurant in Dervaig is very good if a little over priced. Plenty of options in Tobermory. The sea eagle watch is a totally life enhancing experience. Calgary beach is stunning. Druimnacroish is in a wonderful quiet location with excellent views across across the valley to the hills beyond. Neil and Margriet were very attentive hosts making a very friendly, homely atmosphere. A great base from which to explore the island but lots of wildlife in the local area. A few days without the distraction of TV was very therapeutic. Thank you for a very enjoyable 4 days.
Tips:The local restaurants have excellent food but are a little pricey. Good basic pub food is available at the Mishnish Hotel in Tobermory for those on a budget. Excellent bird watching on the outskirts of Dervaig where a range of wading birds can be seen in the tidal creek together redpoll, sedge warbler, reed bunting and snipe in the reedbed ajacent.

Lovely place to stay, had a most relaxing 3 nights here and would throghly recommend it. The place is scrupulously cleam, warm and welcoming, and we very much enjoyed the well-stocked honesty bar and residents' lounge. Great selection of food for breakfast which also has lovely views of the garden where we were able to watch birds and rabbits and some stunningg rainbows. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect is a log fire! Would return again.

22nd September 2016:
Neil & Margriet couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was expertly cooked although a little more food would've been welcomed. The sitting areas are very comfy and really do invite conversation with other guests. It adds value to the B&B pleasure (although this is more guest house than B&B). The duvet on our double could've been a bit larger but caused no problems for us (weather was warm for our stay). Without a shadow of a doubt, we'd stay there again if we revisit the very beautiful island of Mull
Tips:Wherever you stay on Mull, you'll end up doing a fair amount of driving. To minimise it, this NW end of the island (which in my opinion, is the best area) is the place to stay - and Druimnacroish is perfectly located. There is a great restaurant called Am Birlinn, about 10 mins drive - and surprisingly well priced. The pub at Dervaig (5 mins) serves very good food and the staff is great. There's even an Aussie serving, so you know it'll be good! Tobermory is a beautiful 20 min drive away with many places to choose from. It's probably the prettiest town on the island - colourful timber facades right on the harbour, a la Scandi style. Go to the island of Iola - pretty and historic. We stayed 3 days on Mull and would recommend no less, if you want to see it all without busting yourself. We travelled from Lewis, down through Uist to Barra then to Mull (via Oban). For us, the top 2 islands were Mull and surprisingly, Barra - small but brilliant.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little bit outside the village of Dervaig and very quiet. There is lots of birdlife right outside and it is a lovely spot as a base to explore from. Rooms (the two we used) were simple, clean and pleasant. Not the sort of place for wild nights ... so perfect for us. No TV, which I found to be a positive in getting away from it all.
Tips:We were relaxed about the stay and just drove around and went for walks enjoying the scenery and looking for wildlife. For me personally the quilts were a bit on the heavy side and the pillows were too hard. A lot of vegetation growing across the window was cutting out the light.
Tips:Both the pub in the village The Bellchoy and Am Birlinn Restaurant were superb. Food was good and staff very attentive. Tobermorey has some lovely shops and cafe's and Calgary Bay is beautiful.

Only one word - fabulous! SO relaxing and welcoming - quiet, serene location, fabulously sunny and roomy room. Felt like we were staying with friends in the countryside.
Tips:As much as you like or as little as you like in terms of things to do. A boat trip to Staffa and to the puffin colonies was amazing so don't miss that. The Art in Nature exhibition at Calgary Bay is a lovely interlude. The local pub in Dervaig has good pub food and atmosphere. Room 6 is big and comfortable with sun streaming in through the windows.

Thanks for a relaxed stay, for such personable service and happy interactions. We liked the rooms for guests and provisions provided set in a most comfortable and clean way facing beautiful outlooks. In such a respectful, helpful and cheerful company we were assured of a contented stay. It would be special to return.
Tips:Margurite arranged our visit to au Berlinnn restaurant with pickup drive , and we dined at the local pub with Quiz night fun. Both were good dining nights with excellent service and attention to local products in their fare. Any walk or drive opens to the vast beauty of the natural surrounds bringing peace and appreciation! A gem on the Isle of Mull. Neil & Margriet could not have made us feel more welcome, coffee and Drambuie (from the honesty bar) on arrival for the weary travellers that we were. In addition to large bedrooms there are several communal rooms and an honesty bar making this akin to a hotel! WiFi that can handle a decent Skype call too.

A most attractive B and B, excellently run by very nice people. We greatly appreciated the welcome we received, the concern to meet our needs, and the useful advice on trips, routes and things to see. The only (small) drawbacks relate to the construction of the house itself: we were in the room above the guests' lounge, and sound travelled up rather clearly from below; and the exposed metal roof trusses in the first floor rooms might be better disguised.
Tips:Am Birlinn for food and Tunus Mara for a trip to the islands both fully lived up to Marguerite's recommendations.

The atmosphere was friendly and we felt so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, particularly when providing for the gluten-free diet - you even went to the trouble of making special bread. All much appreciated, making us all feel equally valued.
Tips:Dervaig is a peaceful location, and that is a good reason for choosing it, although it means taking the 8-mile journey into Tobermory for a greater range of shops and places to eat. It's a pleasant drive, in spite of the single-track roads. The scenery is stunning on Mull and Iona, and the serenity and peace make these islands very special indeed.

Very satisfied--would have liked T.V.in room though--a bit off the beaten track---local pub we thought was rather expensive for what was a very restricted menu. Thought £2.50 for 180mm wine in BB was very reasonable and welcome as we could not drink and drive at meal. Breakfast was good though not as plentiful as other BBS we stayed at -one of which was £27.50 a night at Connel Bridge but with a much inferior room and bathroom. Perhaps not everyone likes homemade bread (?) for toast but we did! The shower was the best ever!!! The owner was very welcoming on arrival bringing us a pot of tea in the conservatory. which was much appreciated The garden and views of the hills were lovely. All the best, Mr and Mrs Booth.
Tips:Tobermory is quaint--the Mishnish pub---the yellow fronted building at the end of the street is very good and the museum near by is amazing.

This is a very nice, well run place to stay. The owners are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We had a massive family room which was spotless and unusually, had no television. I consider that to be a bonus. The breakfast is good and local products are used. In contrast to other places the portion size is small, but adequate. I'm sure if I'd asked for more, it would have been given. The property is close to Dervaig and easy to find. I'm surprised its only 3* rated, I would have put it above that.
Tips:Visiting Calgary bay is a must. Nice beachwalks, eagle watching (take your binoculars) and a nearby arts and crafts centre with cafe. Tobormory was nice and plenty of restaurants. We ate twice at one next to the garage and maritime exhibition, it was good. The maritime exhibition is worth a look. Its full of interesting exhibits and lots for the kids.

Very nice welcome, beautiful place, comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast robust and fast at the same time. The location is beautiful; I did not award a 5 (highest mark) because it is not easy to reach, and away from the main places on the island. The only problem we had (but probably only a temporary issue) is the noise of the water running in the tubes, after either the basin or the water was used. Also the door of the bathroom was rather noisy.
Tips:From the B&B these is a recommended 15 mins drive to the wonderful Calgary Bay. The pub in the village (Dervaig) offers a high quality cuisine and a nice and kind treatment. Just avoid to go close to the closure time

Tips:Get out of the car and walk - from the front door is just great. Dervaig and its estuary are beautiful and there are plenty of birds about. Longer walk down the very quiet road that links Dervaig and Torloisk is a treat. Treshnish farm walk is an inspiration.

Excellent accommodation in idyllic location with beautiful views from the breakfast room. Local bird life was viewed with interest and perhaps a bird table (with food placed just before breakfast} might encourage them to approach even closer. One minor drawback was the lack of television, although this was thought a problem by only one of a party of four.
Tips:The local "class" restaurant, Am Birlinn, was barely average, with very small portions indifferently presented. Poor quality although very expensive. In contrast the Bellachroy in Dervaig provided good food although this too was on the expensive side. Tobermory is about a twenty five minute drive and offers a broad range. Macgoghans provided decent food at a reasonable price, but it is a pub, with a lively atmosphere, although despite this the service was excellent.

A very enjoyable stay in lovely scenery. Our bedroom on the first floor was spacious and the bathroom had just been refurbished with a walk in shower there are 2 sitting rooms and the dining room overlooks the hills. We had excellent breakfasts with plenty of choice.
Tips:Food in restaurants tends to be expensive. The pub in the village was friendly and the food good. The Italian restaurant in salen was disappointing. Driving was largely on single track roads but there are plenty of passing spaces. The roads on the west coast are a bit hairy at times as they twist and turn. We went to Iona and enjoyed it although it took nearly 2 hours to drive to the ferry. There is a free car park just before the ferry, don't pay on the quayside.

A perfect, quiet place to stay with a fabulous view to wake up to even on a rainy day. The house is lovely and has a homely feel. Margriet and Neil are so welcoming and helpful. We wish we had stayed longer. The only thing we would add is to put a wild bird feeding station by the conservatory to bring nature that bit closer.
Tips:Highly recommend booking the 7 hour whale watch trip with Sea Life Surveys from Tobermory and the boat trip to Staffa from Ulva Ferry is amazing. We had a wonderful stay at Druimnacroish and were brilliantly looked after by Margriet and Alan. I'd highly recommend every aspect to travellers, you should couldn't improve it. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and home made shortbread in the beautiful Garden Room with such big floor to ceiling windows you really felt outside! Delicious breakfasts with a great choice and Margriet went out of her way to help sort out things for us.
Tips:The best restaurant is Am Berlinn, fantastic seafood, totally local produce and really friendly and helpful staff - and they even offer a free "taxi" service, run by the owners. We even went back a second night! Dervaig is a really beautiful craggy corner of Mull and nearby Calgary Beach, with its white sands and turquoise seas, seems to come from the Caribbean. A trip all the way down that north west coast is just breath-taking with different views around every corner.

Everything else is superb, too. The owners go out of their way to accomodate, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed, and the view is fine. Breakfasts are superb! Highly recommended!
Tips:Go to Mull with a full tank of gas. I wish I had read more of the history of Mull before I went, but Margriet and Neil have a well-stocked library and plenty of suggestions for destinations. Having a stay at Drumnacroish was like being a guest of Neil and Margaret not a traveller. No keys for your room and and an honesty bar made us feel at home. We would recommend you to anyone who asked if we knew anywhere to stay if they were going to be coming to Mull. We will have happy memories of you and wish you well for the future.
Tips:The pub in Dervaig served very good bar meals meals - it is about ten minutes by car from Drumnacroish. The attention to small details in decorating set you apart from other B & Bs. The use of bold colours throughout was tasteful and striking, and the shower was a delight, especially with the high quality gel and shampoo. Tips:Am Birlinn is a fantastic restaurant which is really close by to the B&B. A bit pricey but worth the visit. Cafe Fish in Tobermory is nice too, but I liked Am Birlinn better. The Staffa and Lunga (puffins) tour is fantastic.

You made us feel welcome, relaxed and at home. I particularly liked the living area downstairs and the fact that we could come back and have a drink after being out for a meal. I loved the decor in the house and the beautiful views from our bedroom and the outlook in the conservatory.

Well.....in general it was good. I slept well....better than in any other place on this trip. The breakfast was fine and you guys were very pleasant. If you were wanting to make it better it would cost quite a lot I guess.....inside it feels as if some better furniture would be good.....also the house has a damp smell as you come in!!! The grounds could be fantastic but feel neglected. The price was OK...but, for example, at Tigh na Marathon I paid 33% less...and I am afraid we all thought it was slightly better there.
Tips:Hotel is good ...we had one very good evening with ALL the meals excellent.....and one where they were so so. The island in general is beautiful....Duart castle went down well, with our friends who don't have much history in their countries. Interesting bird life.

This is an exceptionally good B&B. We were very pleased with every aspect of it. They even did a load of laundry for us, for a small charge that was worth every pence! The location is very rural, rugged and beautiful. If we lived in Scotland we would be back often.
Tips:We ate at the local pub our first night which was busy and good. The next night we ate at the am birlin restaurant. Unlike most of the buildings we saw this restaurant is in a very new building. Very nice place to stay while visiting the lovely Isle of Mull. Magritte and Neal are wonderful, helpful and gracious. Breakfast was delicious, especially the home made berry jam and marmalade. Druimnacroish is a comfortable and welcoming guest house.
Tips:Mull is an amazing island. Dervaig is the nearest village where we had dinner every night with the locals in Bellachory Inn in Dervaig. Made some new friends, including a well behaved Border collie who sat on the floor my his master, but also loved attention from other guests as well. Enjoy your visit, but be sure to keep all four tyres on the road. We slipped off once and got a flat! Druimnacroish proved to be a most enjoyable, friendly and very comfortable place to stay, with parking just outside the house. Welcomed with freshly-made coffee and shortbread, Neil and Margriet provided excellent hospitality and always found time in their busy day to chat or answer our numerous questions. Every possible need was catered for during our 3-night visit, from the superb breakfasts to the comprehensive visitors' library with its wealth of books, free internet and complimentary coffee and tea to the very comfortable guests' lounge adjacent to both the library and the spacious and bright dining room. Small snacks and other drinks were thoughtfully and conveniently left to purchase.
Tips:Worth visiting: The Old Byre - especially its Heritage Centre with its superb displays and models. Calgary Beach. Eating places - Bellacroy Hotel and Am Birlinn. The 'Les Routiers' Fish and Chip cabin on the old pier in Tobermory. Churches - Gruline Episcopal and Dervaig Church of Scotland. Isle of Iona and Staffa are a must, but allow plenty of time for the journey as the distance on the map does not mention journey time!! Ben More too ..... on a clear day if you want a view! Walk on Treshnish. Shops - 'Tackle and Books' in Tobermory have a superb, well-laid-out range of books on Scotland; other small shops too are worth a browse for gifts of all sorts. Public Toilets are in the large new Visitor Centre in the Car Park.

Really welcoming stay in a lovely situation. I am sure we will book again next time we are visiting Mull.
Tips:We found the Fish Restaurant very good, but very pricey. The Dervaig Arms was very, very busy and as a consequence we were offered our meal in the bar, which is basic and the meal itself was, we suspect 'posh freezer food' not very well presented and again pricey for what it was. Nevertheless,it did not spoil the enjoyment of our stay at Druimnacroish.

Very friendly, welcoming B&B. Travelling from London I was a bit taken aback that keys aren't given out as standard (although one was immediately provided when requested). It's a charming part of staying on Mull that locking anything at all is unnecessary but that takes a day or two to get into the swing of.
Tips:Look out for sheep on the road - they're everywhere and leap out at unexpected moments! That aside, Calgary Bay is a beautiful spot for swimming. The Am birlinn restaurant nearby does a great pick up and drop off service free of charge from this B&B. The food is good and we had a lovely evening but there is still room for improvement at this relatively new establishment.

The staff was very kind and the location is in a totally remote area. If you like peace and quite and good starting point for outdoor activities (biking, walks...) its great. I was expecting more B&B but it is in fact run half way between a hotel and B&B. If you want to go out in the evenings - it's maybe not the best choice as it is quite remote and the roads there are quite demanding.

Home from home but with a much better breakfast! Lovely views, ideal base for exploring Mull. Would not consider staying anywhere else on subsequent visits to Mull.
Tips:Bellachroy ideal for nearby eating. Cafe Fish in Tobermory great for the 'special' meal. Enjoyed trip to Ulva and Wildlife safari with Richard Atchinson. And of course the eagles!

A beautiful secluded spot, warm friendly welcome, abundant local information, well-appointed room (dog acceptance much appreciated!), excellent breakfast choice including home made bread for toast, comfortable lounge, extensive honesty bar, and computer access for the non-laptop generation! Everything obviously well thought out and carefully delivered.
Tips:Staffa/Treshnish Islands boat trip with Turus Mara with cross-discount meal at Am Birlinn restaurant a must. Calgary beach and woodland sculptures a delight. Ben More worth the slog for the views! Mediterranea restaurant in Salen very good too.

Great place to stay, I enjoyed it very much. It was also more central situated then expected thanks to the "shortcut" to Salen.
