Very welcoming hosts with good knowledge of the area. Accommodation was very comfortable. We were invited to use the sitting room and conservatory also. The breakfast was delicious and the tableware was immaculate, white cotton linen. We stayed in about nine hotels during our trip to Scotland and the hosts at Gruline Farm stood out as the most helpful.

Tips:

The hosts will advise about what is available in the area.

We were delighted to be able to access our rooms slightly earlier than anticipated as we had had a long and difficult cycle. The welcome was gracious. The rooms were well prepared and immaculate. The breakfast was hotel standard in preparation and presentation. We thought the interior decoration and detail of the property was of an exceptional standard.

Tips:

Local restaurants were limited but the recommendation of the Glenfossa was most welcome. A visit to Ulva and the Boathouse was a highlight of the trip. The history attached to the island should make it a must visit place for any Australians visiting Scotland. McQuarrie monument is within easy access of Gruline Home Farm

24th May 2019:

Lovely central location for seeing the whole Island. Afterwards were doubly glad we didn’t stay either north or south as driving to all the sights, Iona, Tobermory etc would have taken too long for us. Room was super comfortable with everything you needed including a good en suite. Breakfasts were great quality in a lovely dining room with views over the mountain behind. Damask table cloths with everything beautifully presented. Sandra and Stuart were wonderful hosts dealing with a few last minutes changes without fuss.

Tips:

Evening meals out are a little limited nearby. With the Forsa Hotel the nearest of average quality but ok after a days travelling. As mentioned in a few other reviews you need to go through 3 gates, two metal and one wooden( which you need to open and close each time)to get to the B&B which might prove a little tedious if you were staying for a long time. All you need is a fit and willing partner to be gatekeeper while you drive through!

GHF is a beautiful B&B, clean, well-mannered and spacious. Sharon and Stuart do all they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. They served us tea and homemade shortbreads upon arrival, helped us to book reservations at restaurants and sourced replacement activities when our whale-watching tour was cancelled. We rented two rooms and our kids loved having their own space, twin beds and bath. Our bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast (with individual order) was gorgeous and delicious.

Sharon and Stuart (and their dog Albert) are kind and thoughtful. They run an beautiful bed and breakfast and I hope it lasts for many years to come. We would definitely stay there again if we are visiting Ilse of Mull. Thank you so much and see you next time! Kind regards, Dees and family

Tips:

If you want good food with a view, try the Glenforsa Hotel. Tour around the island with your car because otherwise you'll miss out on some stunning views on the top of the mountains (and don't forget Calgary Beach, small tip find a right parking lot otherwise you'll ride pass it). Last but not least, take a pony trek on Liz Hendersons beautiful native highland pony's. They are well behaved ponies and kind mannerd. On horseback you'll see the islands nature in a totally different way!

My wife and I stayed at this excellent B&B for 5 days on a recent trip to the Isle of Mull. We are frequent visitors to this magical Island and this particular trip was primarily to spectate on the Mull Rally. Sharon and Stuart are great hosts at this very comfortable B&B. Off the main road this is the perfect place for a good and quiet nights sleep, the comfy beds, excellent linen and great breakfasts ensured that we enjoyed our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and Sharon made us a breakfast 'to go' on one of our very early morning starts.

Tips:

Perfectly located for trips to all parts of the island, with great lochs and walks minutes from the door step. Plenty of food, refreshments choice with restaurants, hotels, bars all within a short drive away.

A friendly and inviting place to relax and use as a base to see what Mull has to offer. Sharon and Stuart are great hosts, made us feel right at home, and provided an excellent stay.

Tips:

Mediterranea restaurant in Salen was really good and only a few miles down the road. Gruline Home Farm is situated in an area that makes most of Mull very accessible.

Everything about GHF was fabulous and exceeded all expectation. Sharon and Stuart are superb hosts and couldn't do enough to make us welcome and comfortable. NO doubt about where we would seek to stay on a future visit to Mull. Thanks. We have already recommended GFH to friends who we know visit Mull more regularly than we do.

Sharon and Stuart were very welcoming when we stayed with them and went out of their way to help if they could in terms of giving us information / advice about the island and places to visit. They met us with tea / coffee and shortbread, which was much appreciated after a long day driving, and provided us with a freshly cooked breakfast each morning. We really couldn't have asked for better hosts. Thank you!

Tips:

Iona Abbey is worth a visit - quite beautiful. A day trip to Staffa and Lunga is something we'd recommend - walk into Fingal's Cave on Staffa and then spend time with the puffins in Lunga! If you are looking for some fresh homemade food we would recommend the Ballygown restaurant - although it is important to book in advance.

We would definitely recommend GHF to other travellers. Everything about our stay was perfect (except maybe the weather!). For cleanliness, decoration, size and facilities this was the nicest room we had stayed in during our travels around the islands. Breakfast was very good too and nicely served. Thank you Sharon & Stuart.

Tips:

We had a very good meal at the Glenforsa Hotel whilst staying at GHF. After enjoying the scenery and distilleries on Mull we would recommend taking a boat trip over to Staffa and Iona. Don't miss Fingal's Cave!

We had a lovely time at Gruline Home Farm B&B. The B&B is very well located with very nice views around and very quiet. It is really a place to be. Sharon and Stuart, thank you very much for your great hospitality. You made our stay very relaxing and memorable.

Tips:

We had a beautiful coastal walk starting at Laroch Mor with nice views to the Treshnish Isles. A very good local restaurant is The Bellachroy Restaurant in Dervaig.

Good central location. Spotlessly clean and "classy" house AND bedroom. Superbly hospitable owners who could not do more for us. We ate our own meal in one night in the conservatory and Sharon kindly provided cutlery, plates etc AND kept our food in her fridge. Beyond the call of duty was giving us some fresh bread from their own kitchen. Wonderful outlook over the hills

Tips:

Salen is 2.5miles away. We had a meal at the Meditteranea which is under new management. Excellent value & food. Even better was the Ballgown restaurant 10miles away. We cycled there (no problem!) and back (big problems!). Best to drive if you come by car. I would highly recommend Gruline Home Farm as a high-class B+B. It was more than a B+B!!

Langamull beach just North of Calgary is wonderful. The white tailed sea eagles are a delight over Loch Na Keal. Try the Mediteranean restaurant in Salen, it was excellent on two occasions.

A lovely big house and garden, and warm welcome, especially from Albert the dog in the garden.Very good bathroom and big bedroom, excellent breakfast. They were also happy for us to arrive after 10pm, having been to a concert at other end of Mull.

Tips:

. Need a car to go for evening meals, probably 3 miles to nearest village on very quiet roads. It makes a good base for the northern centre of the island, and near to a favourite sea eagle spotting place on the sea loch just west. Lovely mountain side view to check weather by from house.

Stuart and Sharon could not have been more welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. They had thought of everything and we had a wonderful view from our bedroom window.

Tips:

We would highly recommend Jacqui who runs a wildlife tour called Enjoy Mull. She knew where to find all the more unusual birds and wildlife such as otters, golden and white tailed Eagles, a hen harrier and more, a memorable day. We also had a lovely, walk on Iona down to the golf course where the coastline is really beautiful.

2nd August 2015:

Great location if you have a car and are happy to not be in a town as the views of the countryside were great to wake up to - the point deducted for location was more in relation to how easy it would be to get to without a car. The room was huge, bed very comfy and the breakfast and coffee was great. There was also ample parking. Very happy with our stay and would definitely book again if we venture back to Mull. Thanks for your hospitality!

Tips:

There is a bus stop on the road near the driveway, we didn't use the bus network so can't comment on how regular the service is. There are a couple of options for evening meals within 10 - 20 mins drive from the B&B. The Staffa / Lunga boat trip (puffins if the time of year is right) with Turus Mara is good and leaves from the Ulva Ferry pier which is about20mins drive from the B&B - much easier than driving all the way down to Fionphort.
