Very approachable and friendly people so we always felt we could get in touch if we needed to. Good information about the hot water system and other facilities.

A beautiful location with lots to see on the river. Cottage stands by a footpath to the castle and the estuary - lovely strolls at any time of day.

23rd April 2022:

Covid restrictions prevented welcome in person on arrival, but everything fully explained in writing or by telephone.

Tips:

Excellent location for access to the whole island and Tobermory for shopping (and fish and chips!). The Old Post Office at Lochbuie particularly good for a light lunch. Sea Eagle trip from Ulva Ferry was well worth it. Beautiful drive along the loch side and under cliffs at Grubin and circular walk at Tresnish Point was exceptional.

A delightful property in a delightful location. Ideal for any visitor to the Isle of Mull.

Tips:

Everything is just sooo convenient - maybe just pack an extra bag of sunshine? Mind you, it is November and it's still a brilliant time to be here.

We loved the position of the cottage and the walk along the river out to the Sound of Mull. We had everything we needed in the cottage to make a very enjoyable stay.

A visit to Duart Caste and cafe, and a trip out to Iona were highlights.

14th June 2021:

The whole process of booking and arriving was excellently handled; especially in times of Covid. The cottage is well fitted and everything is excellent quality. The River Aros, in front of the cottage, was full of wildlife which just highlighted the excellent location.

Tips:

The White Tailed Eagle boat Trip is highly recommended. Otherwise, if you like wildlife, just explore this lovely island and if you see photographers or people with scopes, just stop and ask them what they are looking at/for. Also, check the rocks and etc for basking grey seals! Being still in Covid mode, we did not eat out much but The Old Post Office at Loch Bouie is well worth a visit.

Spacious cottage in a fantastic location. You can soak up the heat sitting in one of the comfy chairs in the sun room enjoying the gorgeous view or relax on the settee with a good book in front of the fire.

Tips:

Sea life survey tour from Tobermory was excellent. The little bakery in Salen was really nice but gets busy at opening time so get there early if you fancy a breakfast

Great location for seeing all that Mull has to offer, lovely little circular walk from the cottage down to the sea and around the castle ruins, cottage was comfortable, everything you need for a great stay. Loved eating in the dining area, watched by our local friends (sheep) every evening and morning on their wanderings.

Tips:

Apart from the great places to visit on Mull and Iona,we spent a lovely day on the Ardnamurchan peninsula visiting the lighthouse and the stunning beach and area at Sanna.Car ferry from Tobermory to Kilchoan £29 return.

Riverside cottage is sparkling clean and in a beautiful location right on the riverside with a short walk to Aros Castle ruins. Close enough to Salen for essential groceries and only 20 min drive to Tobermory. The sun room opens up the living space really well and is a lovely place to eat breakfast and look at the view. A lovely peaceful cottage to unwind in for a few days.

Great location for visiting other sites around the island. Can’t think of anywhere more central. Sandra and Stuart were great hosts but we didn’t need to contact them much as everything worked fine.

Tips:

A walk up to the estuary and Aros Castle is highly recommended early morning or evening. Seeing the White-tailed Eagles with Mull Chartets is a must do activity for any wildlife lover. Surprisingly, best place to see Otter was Tobermory Harbour, although one was seen at the estuary one evening.

26th May 2019:

Setting, facilities and cleanliness were all first class. We have taken many self catering properties for holidays over the last 40 years and this was one of the best. Sharon was a friendly and welcoming host but also non intrusive. We cannot think of any issues at all.

Tips:

We brought shopping over on the ferry from the new M&S food store in Oban as we are not big on eating out in the evening. We struggled to find anywhere particularly good in Tobermory for lunch but the Calgary Art In Nature coffee shop was very good (but quite pricey). We visited Glengorm, Iona, Lagamull, Calgary, Dervaig, Tobermory, Craignure - using a book with forty walks in Mull, we had some fantastic outings in lovely weather. Each evening we took the path behind the house to walk to Aros Castle and then returned along the shore- magical!

Could not have been made more welcome, it's a lovely cottage, in a lovely setting - with the most comfortable beds in the world!

Tips:

A good jumping-off point for virtually anywhere on the island. Best food - Am Birlinn between Dervaig and Calgary, and the chips at The Creel, the 'shack' on the slipway at Fionnphort. (The fish was pretty good too!)

4th May 2019:

The owners Stuart & Sharon are determined to always go the extra mile and ensure your time at Riverside cottage is comfortable & relaxing. Making themselves available when ever required without being invasive. The ever changing view from the cottage is delightful & captivating and there is always something different going by on the river. Even the sheep trotting by on the lane appear to go by quiet so as not to disturb ... We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage.

Tips:

Glenforsa Bar/Hotel very near and worth a visit for the Pub Food served. Well stocked local shop five minute drive away. Places worth a visit - Iona, Ulva & Aros Park in Tobermory. Laggan sands and Moy castle worth a visit I could go on and on many many nice walks.. on Mull.. Very pleaseant local walk from the cottage to the castle.

27th October 2018:

We'd prefer you to remain a close-kept secret so that we'll always be able to get the weeks we want when we want to stay! However as that is unlikely, I've no hesitation in saying it's a lovely cottage, excellently equipped, with super-comfortable beds and it's in a good position for exploring the island.

Tips:

Arlene's at Craignure serve an excellent breakfast and fantatic cakes with decent coffee, Am Birlin, at Penmore Mill (3 miles from Dervig on Calgary road) is our favourite restaurant, and The Hen House is a new find that we shall visit next time we're there - a 'garden shed' selling home-made cakes and hot drinks to take-away (parking pull-in opposite with picnic tables for nice weather,) at Famore PA73 6LX.
