27th July 2025:
We enjoyed a pleasant three-night stay in Bunessan Inn, with breakfast and lunch at the inn each day. Our family room was spacious, clean, and comfortably warm—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. While the bathroom was functional, a bit of modernisation would bring it up to par with the rest of the space. The food is overall good, but the children's menu would need a bit of improvement. Staff were helpful and accommodating, especially when arranging our early breakfasts.

The hotel has friendly staff and a great location. We always had a smile from Alison and the restaurant staff. The views from the room were terrific, especially the sunsets.
Tips:Kilvickeon Beach is a stunning location. We walked the 3 miles but you can take the car most of the way.

We booked in very last minute after being at the Isle of Iona for the day. The staff were absolutely lovely, its a perfect location as a base for sightseeing round the Island. We booked in for an evening meal which were all delicious and sat outside with our drinks overlooking the bay, perfect. Breakfast was lovely as well.
Tips:The hotel is very central for everything, there was a spar shop just along the road too.

Very enjoyable stay with our 4-legged friend. The room was perfect for us all with a separate living room. Facilities were very clean and with everything needed for us during our day trips around Mull and Iona. Good pub food suited us well during our trip and with the weather as fantastic as it was, the outside seating was wonderful. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
Tips:Wonderful beach up the road behind the hotel (was not busy at all) and a local weavers which sells quality locally produced products. Iona is well worth a day trip as well to see the Abbey, have lunch and explore the island which also has some beaches which would not be out of place in the Caribbean!

19th June 2025:
Here we were onto number three of a number of stays in different places on the islands. The road from the ferry to Bunessan winds its way through hills, single track but with many passing places that keeps traffic flowing. The inn is nicely situated in the village with stunning views over Loch na Lathaich. Room was spacious. Staff incredibly accommodating. We booked a meal in the restaurant on day of arrival. Lots to choose from. After a good hearty Scottish breakfast we headed for Iona, the next day. Well worth a visit. We had to leave early next morning and we were kindly supplied with breakfasts … cereal, croissants, muffins to set us up for the long day of travel ahead. Returning to the ferry so early we enjoyed sights of a number of wildlife and most especially deer often crossing the road and standing nearby. What I found different to our other accommodations is (a) there is a spar nearby to buy supplies (b) having somewhere to eat in the evening without having to travel in search of food.
Tips:Iona is a quick ferry trip away. Plenty on the island to see, lots of history and so tranquil if you go across early.

Easy to find and park. Peaceful location. Checking in wasn't clear to us at the door but we found staff in the bar to help. We would have liked a suitcase stand and more hooks or rails in the shower/toilet please. PS Different hinges on the wardrobe door would enable it to be opened fully. I enjoyed my scampi and chips, nice and crisply cooked. Good breakfast but no fresh fruit available.
Tips:The drive over through the hills from Craignure was fantastic and the scenic route toward Tobermory was stunning. We didn't get time to go to Iona or any other interesting places sadly.

We stayed in a Seaview double room. It was very spacious, bright with a fridge and a large wardrobe and many drawer units. The rooms have been refurbished. The view over the water was beautiful especially at sunset. The breakfast was lovely and all cooked to order. The evening meals were amazing too. Please ignore previous negative reviews about the food, they have a different chef and he is excellent especially catering for my dietary requirements. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend staying at this relaxing friendly hotel in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful place, confortable rooms, great food and above all, fantastic staff and hospitality. We had a problem on our trip in Mull when the window of our van was smashed by a careless driver with a rack full of kayaks at the back. The owners of Bunessan Inn, Alison and Howard plus one of the very friendly locals, helped us to fix the window and the van as best we could to continue our trip the next day. Like I say, the people are absolute jewels !!!! I cannot recommend highly enough.

I'd recommend you, though with some cautions. Our bed was lumpy, and it was a little noisy being above a pub (though what can you expect?) I would NOT recommend the restaurant for dinner, which is part of why we decided to stay there rather than a self-catering option. The food was very mediocre and the kitchen was out of a lot of ingredients, even though we were there fairly early. Several of our orders came out not as described on the menu. It was just a bummer all around.

Only marked you down on the facilities as there were little things missing in the room eg hairdryer (I could have asked tho'!), a few options not available on the menu for dinner and breakfast could have been better. The lady serving the latter was lovely, and explained that it was the chef's day off, but alternatives for people who don't want a full cooked breakfast would've been welcome.
